At the City Council meeting on July 13, 2022, Dover Mayor Robert Carrier and the City Council recognized Dover athletes, ambassadors and coaches who attended the Special Olympics USA Games in June.

Ten athletes, two US youth ambassadors, and three coaches traveled to Orlando, Florida for this year’s Special Olympics USA Games, as members of the New Hampshire Special Olympics Team. The team is the state’s largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities and provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic sports for children and adults.

Several of the local athletes and coaches attended the July 13 City Council meeting to accept the proclamation.

“We recognize the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of the athletes, ambassadors, and coaches as they have worked through the challenges to their training and practice sessions they faced due to the pandemic,” said Mayor Carrier, reading from the proclamation.

The proclamation includes the names of all athletes, ambassadors and coaches, and can be viewed in the meeting minutes here: https://publicrecords.dover.nh.gov/Tabs/Index/20101/public/1/de ptnum/0/cab/Public_Meetings.
