Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is proud to announce that Dr. Irene (Patty) Rupp Hodge has joined Wentworth-Douglass as the medical director of the Wound Healing Institute.

Rupp Hodge is a board-certified physician in both wound care and infectious disease. Prior to joining Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Rupp Hodge spent over 22 years at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.H., working in infectious disease services and wound care. She also served as medical director for the Frisbie Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine since 2011.

In 2020, Rupp Hodge was named “Top Infectious Disease Specialist” by New Hampshire Magazine.

As medical director, Rupp Hodge will help lead the hospital’s effort to strengthen and expand the wound care program and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

“I have been very impressed with the quality of the wound center staff and the effort put forth by everyone working in the center to provide exceptional care to our patients,” Rupp Hodge said. “The collaboration between patients, the staff and outside supporting agencies all combine to provide comprehensive care to our clients. My goals for the program are to further enhance the level of care we provide and to reinvigorate hyperbaric oxygen treatment as an integral part of the services available to our patients.”

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is used to treat a variety of healthcare conditions including, but not limited to, tissue damage from radiation therapy for cancer, diabetic foot wounds, peripheral venous/arterial ulcers, skin grafts or flaps with a poor blood supply, and more.

Rupp Hodge attended the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y., where she majored in molecular genetics with a high distinction in research. She went on to earn her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, N.Y.

Prior to her time at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Rupp Hodge worked at Seacoast Infectious Disease Associates in Portsmouth, N.H., and Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, N.H.

The Wentworth-Douglass Wound Healing Institute is located at the hospital’s main campus on 789 Central Avenue. For more information visit https://www.wdhospital.org/wdh/services-and-specialties/wound-healing-institute
