At the City Council’s meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 12, Mayor Robert Carrier recognized the city’s various land-use boards, as well as the Planning and Community Development Department, during National Community Planning Month.

“Community planning can help manage this change in a way that provides better choices for how people work and live,” Carrier said, reading from a proclamation. “Community planning gives everyone an opportunity to be meaningfully involved in making choices that determine the future of their community. We recognize the many valuable contributions made by professional community and regional planners on behalf of the City of Dover, and extend our heartfelt thanks for the continued commitment to public service by these professionals.”

Members of some of the city’s land-use boards were in attendance to receive the proclamation, including Zoning Board of Adjustment Chair Chris Prior, Planning Board Chair Gina Cruikshank, Energy Commission Chair Bill Baber, and Conservation Commission Chair Bill Hunt. Planning Director Donna Benton was also in attendance. Benton thanked the many volunteers who comprise the city’s land-use boards.

“I really appreciate all the work that the volunteers do, all the time and effort,” Benton said. “Thank you very much for making Dover the place it is.
