Southeast New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity (SENH Habitat) is one of 230 Habitat for Humanity affiliates awarded a grant from Wells Fargo Foundation as part of its nationwide initiative to help low to moderate income families build and improve their homes across the U.S. SENH Habitat received a $15,000 grant to help with the escalated costs of building materials for the NH Veteran Family new construction project located at —– in Farmington.

Design plans for the San Miguel project include building a four bedroom and two bathroom home all on one level to accommodate Albert San Miguel, who is a 100% disabled Army Veteran and his family of six. At least one in eight households spend over half of their income on housing in NH and the number of families who are struggling to afford rent is on the rise. In total, 44% of renters and 27% of homeowners are cost burdened, paying more than 30% of their income on housing.

“Wells Fargo has long been a partner with Habitat here in NH and across the country. Making a substantial impact on affordable housing efforts” shared Executive Director, Marcie Bergan. “We are so grateful for their work and interest in what we do right here in the granite state. Partnering with Wells Fargo helps us meet our mission and with the cost of building supplies continuing to rise – keeps us building. So a huge thank you for their support.”

This funding is part of a 7.75 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International through the Wells Fargo Builds program to support the construction, renovation and repairing of more than 350 affordable homes across the U.S. About Habitat: SENH Habitat is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strengthen families and develop communities by partnering with corporations, like-minded community groups, faith-based organizations and individual volunteers to build and renovate simple, decent, affordable homes with hard-working people who are in need.
