City of Dover recently issued the following announcement.

The Community Services Utilities Division began seasonal flushing of Dover fire hydrants on Sunday, Sept. 26. Hydrant flushing is expected to take six weeks to complete.

For the next two to three weeks, crews will focus flushing efforts on the north end of Sixth Street, Old Rochester Road/New Rochester Road areas, and Broadway/Portland Avenue areas.

Crews will work at night from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Hydrant flushing is essential to maintain water quality and allow adequate fire flows throughout the distribution system. No disruption of water service is expected. Residents may notice some discoloration of the water. This is temporary and does not pose any threat to public health.

For more information, contact the Community Services Utilities Division at 516-6450.
