City of Dover: Atlantic Broadband rolling out citywide installation

City of Dover issued the following announcement on November 1.

Cable television and internet provider Atlantic Broadband is beginning to install conduit underground around the City of Dover that will be used to provide services to residents and businesses.

The work to install the infrastructure comes after the City Council approved a franchise agreement with Atlantic Broadband at its July 28, 2021 meeting.

Residents around the city may see small flags on the side of the road and spray paint markings on the road. These markings are to help Atlantic Broadband identify underground utilities before excavation begins.

Community Services has issued excavation permits where crews are working in the public rights-of-way. It is anticipated that contractors working for Atlantic Broadband will be digging trenches in the public rights-of-way on the side of the road to install conduit. Atlantic Broadband has stated its goal is not to dig up driveways in the right-of-way to install conduit; instead, it plans to bore underneath driveway entrances. The City of Dover has not and cannot give authorization for work conducted on private property.

Contractors working for Atlantic Broadband plan to work Monday through Friday.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 1, contractors plan to conduct boring and trench work at the following locations:

  • Lucy Lane
  • Wallace Drive
  • Emerald Lane
  • Foxtail Ridge

Pending permits, crews also plan to work in the Alden Woods neighborhood comprised of Wildewood Lane, Boxwood Lane, Cottonwood Drive, Ironwood Lane and Cherrywood Drive.
