Concord, NH – The Board of Directors of New Hampshire Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Anthony “Tony” L. Emerson, as the Credit Union’s new President/Chief Executive Officer. Emerson will succeed John R. Young. Mr. Young plans to retire at the conclusion of 2021 after having served NHFCU and its membership for more than thirty-five years, the last twenty-seven as President/CEO.
“New Hampshire Federal Credit Union has a strong history of serving our membership with products and services that promote financial well-being,” said James Fredyma, NHFCU Board Chairman. “Through unique Centers for Finance and Education, CU 4 Reality Fairs at schools, and our long-term staff, we have gotten to know our members and our community well. As the Search Committee took on the critical task of finding our next President/CEO, we were looking for someone who would care about financial well-being, our community, and our employees as we do. It became clear that Tony brings the combination of experience, strategy, and passion for the credit union system that will carry us forward to a successful future.”
Mr. Emerson is a seasoned Chief Executive Officer with a proven record of success in organizational growth, achieving goals through strategy implementation, product/service deployment, and talent development, with a collaborative management style and partnering with a progressive Board. He previously served as the President & CEO of IC Federal Credit Union in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Prior to that, Emerson was the President and CEO of The Credit Union League of Connecticut where he managed and led the credit union trade organization. Emerson was responsible for creating new Compliance, Marketing, Branding, Information Technology, and Asset Liability Management programs to support the League’s affiliated credit unions. Additionally, Dr. Emerson has held roles as VP of Finance/ Accounting/Operations at Maine Savings Federal Credit Union and VP/CFO for Penobscot County Federal Credit Union in Maine.

Tony holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the International School of Management, New York, NY. He has served as an Officer in the Air Force, Board Member of the Fitchburg State Foundation, The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts, and Vice Chairman of the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Central Massachusetts.
