City of Dover issued the following announcement on November 8.
Members of the Dover Energy Commission will host an electric vehicle (EV) car show on Saint Thomas Street by the McConnell Center on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Auto dealers, private owners, and the City of Dover will display EV and plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles (HEV) at the car show. Saint Thomas Street from Locust Street to Atkinson Street (between the McConnell Center and the district court) will be turned into a walking mall for the event. The goal is to help inform the community of the available EV and HEV options and whether they should consider owning one.
EV charging installers will be on hand to provide information about installing residential and/or commercial charging stations, including options powered by solar energy. Local and state officials will also discuss EV infrastructure. In the morning, City of Dover's Resilience Coordinator Jackson Kaspari will share planning for extending charging station infrastructure within the city. In the afternoon, state Sen. David Watters will discuss EV bills he has filed this legislative session. Department of Environmental Services Administrator Rebecca Ohler will speak to the state's support of EVs and charging stations.
Attendees driving to the event are asked to park in the McConnell Center/Dover Public Library parking lot.
