Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on November 12.
Wentworth-Douglass Hospital has been awarded an “A” grade for safety by the Leapfrog Group, an independent, national not-for-profit organization. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
Wentworth-Douglass received the best possible score in 4 of the 5 categories measured, which included ‘infections’, ‘problems with surgery’, ‘safety problems’, ‘practices to prevent errors’, and ‘doctors, nurses and hospital staff’.
“Absolutely nothing is more important at Wentworth-Douglass than patient safety, so I’m gratified that this award reflects that culture,” said President & CEO Jeff Hughes. “This is once again a credit to our staff, who consistently display an unwavering commitment to safety no matter the challenges.”
The Leapfrog Group focuses on measuring and publicly reporting hospital performance through an annual survey, in which over 2,300 hospitals voluntarily participate free of charge.
The safety award is based on measured areas like infection prevention, staffing, and procedures that prevent errors.
