City of Dover: Fire Chief Paul Haas announces retirement

20

City of Dover issued the following announcement on January 18.

City Manager J. Michael Joyal, Jr., congratulated Fire and Rescue Chief Paul Haas on his retirement from the department at the end of January after 24 years of service to the city.

Haas began his career with the City of Dover as a firefighter/EMT in 1998 and worked every position until he was named chief in 2019. At the Jan. 12 City Council meeting, Joyal thanked Haas for his leadership.

Joyal cited Haas as instrumental in guiding the community's COVID-19 response, getting the warming center up and running on Willand Drive in Somersworth, and overseeing the Inspection Services during a period of tremendous use due to continued use economic growth — in addition to his everyday duties as fire chief.

"Most importantly, he's positioned the department in a very good place, with a strong leadership team," Joyal said.
