Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce: Dover Olympian Recognition Program

6987

Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on February 1.

Are you a United States Olympian with a Dover, NH connection or do you know of Olympians that have a Dover connection?

The Dover Recreation Advisory Board, along with Dover 400, Dover Main Street Program, and Faces of Dover, is undertaking an Olympian recognition program, and we need your help!

This includes the World Olympics, Para Olympics, or Special Olympics World Games as far back as anyone can remember.

If you can provide names, photos, or other information regarding Dover-connected Olympians, please send it to olympianproject@dover.nh.gov.

  • Olympian’s Name
  • Connection to Dover
  • Year(s) the athlete took part in the Olympics
  • Cities of competition
  • Sport
  • Medals (if any)
  • Any other pertinent information, including photos
  • Your name
  • Your contact info e-mail and phone #
Once the committee can review the submissions, they will meet to decide how best to honor them.  Signage attached to new Wayfinding Dover signage, banners on utility poles, a Faces of Dover Marker, plaque in a prominent location in the city, invite to take part in Dover 400 activities scheduled for 2022-23 are some of the ideas the committee is considering.

Questions? E-mail olympianproject@dover.nh.gov    or call Gary Bannon, Dover Recreation Director @ 603-516-6410, or Beth Fischer @ 603-817-184

The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2022.
