City of Dover: City Council honors Dover's public schools and educators with proclamation

City of Dover issued the following announcement on February 15.

Mayor Robert Carrier and City Council recognized all those working at and supporting Dover public schools for remaining "dedicated and committed to providing a safe and nurturing space for all students and families" throughout the COVID-19 pandemic at the Council's Feb. 9 meeting.

Superintendent William Harbron accepted the proclamation with School Board members Jessica Rozzo and Maggie Fogarty and Dover Teachers Union President Lisa Dillingham.

"It's been a team effort from the very beginning two years ago," Harbron told Carrier after Carrier read the proclamation. "It's required everyone to work together and dedicate themselves to keep schools open and keep education going."

WHEREAS: The teachers of the Dover School District have gone above and beyond in overcoming the operational, emotional and physical challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic have created in order to provide continuous educational and emotional support for the students and families of Dover; and

WHEREAS: The paraprofessionals of the Dover School District have showed an outstanding commitment to provide exceptional support to the faculty and students within the district despite the numerous challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS: The building and SAU level administrators and administrative support staff of the Dover School District have worked tirelessly to adapt and adjust to the continuously changing demands created by the COVID-19 pandemic, working to best support the faculty, staff, students, and families despite the mounting challenges; and

WHEREAS: All other staff, including services such as custodial, IT, transportation and food, have challenged themselves to reinvent how they serve the faculty, staff, students, and families within the Dover School District, finding new and creative solutions to unique challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS: Despite the significant staffing, substitute, and material supply shortages the Dover School District and its partners have experienced, they continue to remain dedicated and committed to providing a safe and nurturing space for all students and families within Dover Public Schools.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROBERT CARRIER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DOVER, NEW HAMPSHIRE, DO HEREBY RECOGNIZE:
