City of Dover issued the following announcement on March 29.
A new section of sidewalk will be built on Whittier Street this year following the City Council’s awarding of the construction bid at its March 23 meeting. The new section of sidewalk on Whittier Street would be from Sixth Street to Glenwood Avenue; the project also includes associated minor roadway and drainage improvements.
Community Services will hold a neighborhood meeting about the pending project on Tuesday, April 5 at 6 p.m., at the Public Works Building, 271 Mast Road in Dover. The meeting will include a review of the project goals and anticipated temporary impacts. All interested parties are encouraged to attend this public meeting.

The Council awarded the bid for the project to GW Brooks & Son, Inc., of Freedom, for a cost not to exceed $488,163.
