Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce: SEED Annual Fundraiser begins April 11

15

Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 28.

Seacoast Endowment for Education in Dover (“SEED”), a nonprofit organization dedicated to lifting academic excellence in Dover schools, is hosting its annual fundraiser, Bid for a Brighter Future. The online auction and virtual fundraiser is set to start April 11 and will run until April 22, 2022. All proceeds will be used to sponsor 21st-century learning opportunities in Dover public schools.

“The auction will be open for only two short weeks,” said SEED event committee chair Deb Fennessy. “Without our in-person component, we are relying on the online sale to raise funds to support thousands of dollars in grant requests for Dover students.” SEED’s annual fundraiser is a key factor in its ability to fund grant requests twice annually. Last fall, SEED provided nearly $15,000 to support curriculum, professional development, and technology improvements for teachers and students. Bid for a Brighter Future will directly support SEED’s spring grant cycle; awards are expected to be delivered in May 2022.

Like last year, SEED will purchase auction items from local shops and restaurants in greater Dover and encourage spending in downtown shops and restaurants.  “Each bid helps to support our schools and area businesses,” said Natalie Koellmer, SEED Board Chair. “Two benefits for the price of one, it’s a no-brainer!” Entering its 10th year, SEED has granted hundreds of awards valued at more than $250,000 to Dover public school teachers and administrators.
