Garrison Players presents 'On Golden Pond'

Garrison Players Arts Center, 449 Roberts Rd, Rollinsford, presents ON GOLDEN POND

Garrison Players, the second oldest continually performing community theatre group in New Hampshire, kicks off its 2022-2023 main stage season with the beloved classic On Golden Pond.

On Golden Pond tells the story of an aging couple, Norman and Ethel Thayer, who spend each summer at their summer home on a Maine lake called Golden Pond. They are visited by their daughter Chelsea and her fiancé Bill Ray and his son Billy Ray Jr. Also popping in is the mailman, arriving by mail boat, Charlie Martin.

The play explores the turbulent relationship Chelsea has with her parents, and the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage.

On Golden Pond was written by Ernest Thompson, who won an Academy Award for his own adaptation of the very popular 1981 film, which starred Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn, who both also won Oscars. Jane Fonda played her own father’s daughter, Chelsea.

Garrison’s production was directed by Michael Doyle, and the cast includes Bob Porzio and Ollire Lane as Norman and Ethel, Elizabeth Flowers as Chelsea, Jim Zibailo as Bill Ray, Tristan Doyle as Billy, and Tim Young as Charlie the Mailman.

Performances run from September 30 through October 9 – Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Tickets are available at www.garrisonplayers.org or walk-ins welcome! Tickets: $20 Adults/15 Students
