Celebrate the rich and diverse cultural traditions of Native Americans with Anne Jennison’s storytelling performance, featuring stories from the Abenaki and about Northeast Woodlands Indigenous traditions.
On Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m., listeners will be taken on a virtual spell-binding and entertaining journey through a series of traditional stories from “How Turtle Flew South for Winter” to “The Great Battle Between Chipmunk and Bear.” Prepare for an interactive storytelling experience filled with humor, drama, and moments of wonder! Anne Jennison is a traditional Native American storyteller with both European and Abenaki heritage. Jennison has been sharing Indigenous lesson stories for over 30 years with audiences of all kinds. With master's degrees in both storytelling and history, she brings a wealth of cultural and historical knowledge to enrich her retellings.
When she is not giving storytelling performances, Jennison is the chair of the state's Commission on Native American Affairs and a member of the Indigenous New Hampshire Collaborative Collective. She is also an affiliate faculty member for the University of New Hampshire's Native American and Indigenous Studies and co-creator of the “People of Dawnland,” an Abenaki/Wabanaki interpretive exhibit at Strawbery Banke Museum.
