Wentworth-Douglass Hospital hosting Infant Loss Remembrance Ceremony

In recognition of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day on Saturday, Oct. 15, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is hosting an outdoor Remembrance Ceremony at the new Jasper’s Heart Children’s Memory Garden at the Pine Hill Cemetery.

The theme for the evening of remembrance is “I See You In My Dreams.” The evening will start at 6 p.m. and is an opportunity for families coping with all types of perinatal loss to gather for support and community.

Participants will have the opportunity to decorate a luminary bag to honor their loss, followed by a short ceremony. Children are welcomed at the event and there will be art and music therapist there to interact with the public. There will also be light appetizers, favors and time to connect with others.

Those attending the ceremony are urged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

The event will also serve as a dedication for the new Children’s Memory Garden, made possible by Jasper’s Heart, a nonprofit organization that supports those who have experienced the loss of an unborn/stillborn/soon after birth child.

The Children’s Memory Garden is a place where families will be able to memorialize and have an opportunity to celebrate their child(ren).

The Pine Hill Cemetery is located at 131 Central Avenue in Dover. For more information go to http://seeyouinmydreams.eventbrite.com
