The University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension has released the 2025 Annual Report for the NH Coverts Project, highlighting the efforts of volunteers in forest stewardship and wildlife habitat conservation across the state.

According to the report, 121 volunteers participated in the 2025 survey. Collectively, they contributed a total of 20,508 hours toward forest stewardship and wildlife habitat work during the year. These volunteers managed 8,990 acres of habitat and engaged with over 10,000 people to promote stewardship messages.

Since its inception in 1999, participants in the Coverts Project have helped permanently conserve more than 349,000 acres of land throughout New Hampshire.

A statement from UNH Cooperative Extension expressed appreciation for those involved: “A big thank you from those of us here at UNH Cooperative Extension, lead project sponsor NH Fish & Game, and other project sponsors and supporters. We’re grateful for all of your help in compiling this data, and for all you do for wildlife and forests in New Hampshire!”
