The University of New Hampshire Extension announced on April 1 that it has updated the prices for its soil and tissue testing services. This is the first price increase since 2019, with a standard gardening test now costing $25 per sample.

The change is intended to help cover the costs associated with running the program while keeping services as affordable as possible. The extension said, “We continually work to keep the program as affordable as possible, with this being the first price increase since 2019.” It also added, “While we work to keep the soil testing service cost effective, we must occasionally make adjustments to cover the costs associated with the program. We appreciate your understanding during this transition, and hope you continue to find the testing service of value to you.”

According to its official website, University of New Hampshire Extension functions as an outreach component of the university by delivering educational initiatives across various sectors in all counties in New Hampshire. The extension utilizes county offices and specialized facilities such as a geospatial technologies training center and a soil testing lab according to its official website. Each year, about 6,000 volunteers are engaged across fourteen programs according to its official website.

The organization supports healthy communities, youth development, strong families and resilient ecosystems through hands-on learning and collaborative strategies according to its official website. Amy Loader began working for University of New Hampshire Extension in 2001 as an agriculture educator according to its official website.

UNH Extension partners with county, state and federal entities for programming efforts designed to enhance communities throughout New Hampshire by providing reliable expertise based on research-informed strategies according to its official website.
